Unlocking High-Impact Nature Investments

Mercer and the Landscape Finance Lab convened an exclusive workshop alongside the Global Investment Forum Europe on March 4-6, 2025. Titled “Unlocking High-Impact Nature Investments,” the session brought together key stakeholders from national and local governments, philanthropic foundations, family offices, asset managers, pension funds, investor learning platforms, landscape finance experts, and standards bodies to explore solutions to overcome barriers and to scale nature investments effectively.

Nature investment is emerging as a high-growth, still evolving asset class. Participants at the "Unlocking-High Impact Nature Investments at Scale" side event came together to workshop the critical question of how to generate a capital continuum for nature based solutions at scale.

This workshop briefing summarises:

the nature and biodiversity market investment landscape
challenges of scaling nature investments
opportunities for unlocking growth and impact
key levers for scaling investment

In addition, the group agreed to three actions to maintain momentum:

to continue this workshop series as a community of practice around nature investment
to showcase successful nature investment deals and
to promote flagship investment sites that demonstrate environmental, social and financial impact at scale
