The Nature Positive Landscapes Facility (N+ Facility) is conceived as a €160m blended finance vehicle accelerating biodiversity and natural capital investments at landscape scale.
The N+ Facility concept, initiated by the Landscape Finance Lab, encompasses:
- N+ Fund, a €150m thematic fund of funds aimed at nature-positive investments, to be managed by Mercer, one of world's most experienced private markets investors; and
- N+ Landscape Accelerator, a €10m accelerator facility designed to build a pipeline of investment-ready landscapes
Together they aim to deliver coordinated nature-positive investments at scale, mobilising capital for the world's most critical natural ecosystems and human-modified supply-chain systems.
Critical Systems Investment Themes

Restored Forests
This theme targets tropical, temperate and boreal forests. Forests harbour more than half of all life on land on the planet, play a crucial role in regulating the earth's climate, and have enormous cultural and spiritual significance. More than a quarter of the world’s population relies on forest resources for their livelihoods, and most use trees on farms to generate food and income.

Resilient Seascapes
This theme targets mangroves, reefs, coastal resilience and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. Coral reefs are home to anywhere between a quarter to nearly half of all marine species, but are one of the ecosystems most vulnerable to climate change. Spread across the tropics, an estimated 1 billion people benefit from reef and coastal ecosystem services - including coastline protection from extreme weather events, food and incomes.

Resilient Wetlands
This theme targets wetlands, peatlands, riverscapes and freshwater systems. Wetlands are biodiversity hotspots (40% of all plant and animal species live or breed in wetlands), and are unsung climate heroes, storing vast amounts of carbon. Restoring wetland landscapes is crucial for preserving biodiversity, mitigating climate change, and maintaining vital water-based ecological services that people depend on including clean water provision, flood prevention and food security.

Regenerative Production
This theme targets sustainable food, beverage and fashion production systems. Unsustainable agriculture is the biggest driver of biodiversity loss. Modern western diets and food production are responsible for 30% of the world’s GHG emissions, over 70% of the world’s freshwater usage, and 80% of the deforestation and habitat loss in tropical areas. But global food security, incomes, and the livelihoods of rural communities depend on transitioning agricultural landscapes and extractive supply chains to regenerative systems.
These biodiversity hotspots have an incalculable value for nature, are vital for climate change mitigation and adaptation, and are critical to the livelihoods of billions of people around the globe. Through its unique approach, the N+ Facility will allow investors and funders opportunities for impact across these critical systems, and commercial returns aligned with their sustainability goals.
The N+ Facility is under development and projected to launch in 2025.
